Obituary of Margaret Diamond

Margaret joyfully entered the world on October 10, 1919 and quietly left on April 12, 2008. She spent 88 years living, loving and appreciating the world around her. Born to Hugh and Myrtle Johnson, sister to Vera, Jean, and Nonie, she spent her early years as a "tomboy" playing tennis, climbing trees, skipping school and doing a variety of water activities. Her lifelong love of swimming and the serenity of water began with her dodging ships on the Detroit River in a sailboat or swimming. Margaret was in the Airforce during WW2 and began her medical career there working with the Doctors and then in Medical Records. In 1949 while living in Toronto she met and married Aime Blais, together they raised six children and lived in a variety of farms in Southern Ontario and eventually settling in Strathroy. Times were tough on the farms but with lots of love, and determination they weathered the storms and Margaret even completed a Hospital Administration program at University of Saskatchewan. She was in Public Relations, and as Assistant Executive Director for over 30 years at the Strathroy Hospital loving it, and totally believed in positive leadership and the balance of work and family life. To say Margaret was proud of her six children was an understatement. Her unconditional love and unwavering support was there for all of us throughout our lives. She spent her retirement living on Lake Huron with her second husband Bert Diamond & swimming in many oceans and lakes. Bert died in 1987. For the last 15 years she lived with her son Paul in Toronto and together they roamed the world. Margaret loved life, she was kind, funny, curious and keen to meet new people and enjoy new experiences. She always said "Yes, I''ll go" We will miss her dearly and will hold her strong values of family and respect forever. We are her proud children, David (Joanie and Thomas), Don (Ruth, Lisa, Chris, Angela & Hannah), Paul(Chris), Michele (Cliff, Ian and Paul) Doug (Michael), Nicole(Holly), and her special daughter Tena Grey. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21st from 2-3 pm where the Funeral service will be held at 3pm in Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy. Tea to follow. Celebrate her life by doing something you love or donating to a charity.
