Obituary of Nelly Maria Koolen

With shattered hearts we announce the passing of Petronella (Nelly) Koolen (nee Berkvens). She passed peacefully with her family by her side on July 17th, 2015 in her 93rd year. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Tony Koolen (Aug., 2002). Loving Mother of Mary Ellen (John) Bedard and Ricky (Mark) Buttery. Loving and cherished Grandma to Derek (1983), Craig (Leanda), Becky, Phillip, Gerryt, Sheila (Ryan), Ginger (Bill), and Paul (Megan). Great Grandma to Hailey, Ava, Ayden, Howard, Olive, and Clara. Survived by sisters Mary Aarts and Anne Van Eyk and sisters in law Mary Berkvens, Helma Berkvens, Tina Van Berkel, and brother in law Jerry Meulendyks. Predeceased by Joseph Berkvens, Peter Aarts, Jim and Ida Berkvens, Harry Berkvens, John Berkvens, and Theresa Meulendyks. She will be fondly remembered for her great smile and warm hugs and kisses. Her door was always open with coffee and cookies in endless supply. Nelly was born in Asten, Netherlands and emigrated to Canada with her husband in 1952. Visitation will be held at Denning’s of Strathroy on Monday, July 20th from 7-9pm. CWL Prayers will be said Monday evening at 6:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 21st, 2015 at 11am with visitation one hour prior at All Saints Catholic Parish. Interment will take place at All Saints Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations to Country Terrace Nursing Home or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
