Joan Kenny (nee Godwin) - passed Tuesday, August 29 at Strathmere Lodge, age 101.  Born in Portsmouth, England; Joan immigrated to Canada as a child, living in Peterborough and Vancouver, raising her family in Windsor, Ontario and spending her golden years in Strathroy, Ontario.  Pre-deceased by her husband Allan (1995) and her sister Monica Gordon.  Devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Joan is survived by daughters Jayne Waters (Rob), Pam Bezaire (Phil), sons Bob (Denise), and Barry (Debby); grandchildren Donald (Leila), Andrew (Danielle), and Mark (Jennifer) Waters, Jennifer (Alan) Cherneski, Derek (Andrea), and Joel (Tara) Bezaire, Sarah (Shawn) Hutchison, Danielle (Jay) Poisson, Sean (Jess) and Steven (Jess) Kenny; great grandchildren Aliyah, Connor, Noah, Leo, Justine, Juliette, John, Mathew, Alice, and Owen Waters, Simon and Nadine Cherneski, Cate, Dan, Emma, Alex, Trevor, and Aubrey Bezaire, Gwyneth and Fiona Hutchison, Eric and Abby Poisson, Erin and Megan Kenny.  She is also survived by sisters-in-law Marilyn Medcalf, Marg Kenny, brother-in-law Donald (Dorothy) Kenny, dear friend Mernie and many nieces and nephews.  Pre-deceased by 11 siblings-in-law and their spouses.  Joan was fiercely independent, loved people and enjoyed sharing her life experiences.  Whether it was the numerous trans-Atlantic voyages, her high school days in Kitsilano, her working days at Chrysler Canada, her skill at raising a family of four while caring for her mother Ellen, or retirement fun in Bayfield, Ontario and Panama City Beach.  Joan's love of life, family, friends and fun was clear to all. Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 7 – 9 pm where funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 am with visitation for one hour prior.  Private interment at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Windsor on Thursday, September 7. Donations in memory of Joan can be made to Strathmere Lodge Auxiliary, Strathroy, Ontario where Joan received the best of care from a dedicated staff.  Donations may also be offered to a charity of your choice.  www.denning.ca 519 245-1023
