Obituary of Fran Pauline Carruthers (Long)

Fran Carruthers (Long) of Strathroy and formerly of Poplar Hill passed away peacefully at Strathmere Lodge on November 20th, 2017 at the age of 86.

 

Beloved wife of the late Ernest Carruthers (2011) and the late Earl Long (1987). Survived by her son and daughter-in-law Paul and Heather Long and grandchildren Jonathan (Kristin) Long of Burlington, Amanda (Rodney) Schwartzentruber of New Hamburg and Susan Long of Peterborough. Great-grandmother of Makayla and Kiara. Sister-in-law of Lloyd and Ruth Long, Helen and Wilfred Crandon, Clara Carruthers, and Melvin Wilson. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be missed by Ernie’s family Marg Fisher, Carol and Barry Trott and their children. Predeceased by infant son (1954), brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Jennie Buttery, Virginia and Howard Buttery and her parents George and Lottie (Stevenson) Buttery. Fran was born in Metcalfe Township and lived many years in Lobo Township before moving to Strathroy. Fran was a long-time employee of the Royal Bank in Strathroy. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 24th, 2017 at 11a.m. with an hour of visitation prior at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. Interment to take place at Strathroy Cemetery at a later date. A tree will be planted in memory of Fran at the Long family cottage on Maple Island. If desired, memorial contributions to the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
