Obituary of Aranka Helen Sharina

Helen (Aranka) Sharina (n. Macuda), in her 82nd year, Strathroy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 6, 2018 at the London Health Sciences Centre. Born on July 20, 1936 in Hearst, Ontario, she worked at the former Glencoe District High School, before finishing her career in purchasing at the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. She was pre-deceased by her parents John and Anna Macuda, brother John Macuda, and sister Irene Macuda. She leaves behind her loving husband of 61 years, Charles P. Sharina, her daughter Janice Ruddock (Robert); grandchildren Shareen and Robbie; sibling Anne Brackett (n. Macuda) and Tony Macuda. Family was the centre of her universe, and she was more proud of all of the accomplishments by her husband, daughter, and grandchildren than of her own. Helen was the quiet pillar of strength for her husband and family. Her life goal was to be the very best wife, mother and grandmother a person could be. Her sincere love and humility will always be an inspiration and guiding light to her family. The family would like to extend gratitude and warmth to the London Health Sciences Centre (floors seven and ten), and their exceptional Palliative Care team (special thanks to nurses Ray Corpuz, Taylor Gollob; student nurse Suny Kim; Dr. Mary Jenkins; Nurse Practitioners Cheryl Talbot, Breeda O’Pharrel, and social worker Katie Cameron) There will be a private family service, and no reception will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society- London or London Health Sciences Centre. Online condolences and donation may be made at www.strathroyfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to DENNING’S OF STRATHROY
