I only just recently heard of Dave's passing . I am so sorry and I wish I had known. I worked with Dave for many years and continued to keep in touch with him. I believe last time we had lunch pre-covid. He could be so funny. I do recall when I first started in the industry he gave me some tapes-cassette so that I could listen to better music he thought classical. He tried. He also talked about Clock Work Orange and what a good movie it was. Again he tried to change my view.
I will miss Dave and thinking of you and your family especially at this time of the year.

Lodja and family,
It just seems like days ago that we were sharing a pandemic visit with you and Dave along the side of Ilderton Road. So it is with much sadness that we extend our condolences to you and your children on his untimely death.

Lodja; We were so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. Although I never worked directly with Dave, over the years our paths crossed regularly at industry events and our neighbourly chats during your walks around the conservation area. Dave always brought some light to events with his gentle humour and welcoming smile. Our deepest sympathies to you and your family.

I had the honour of knowing Dave through our Wednesday Golf League and came to appreciate very much his wit and humour. As another golfer in our Wednesday league who possesses "modest talent", I related to him very much and often found myself golfing with him (which I enjoyed very much). I will miss him very much as will the rest of the members of our league. My condolences are with you and your family at his passing.

Deepest sympathy to Lodja and the family. My husband Roy and Dave grew up together and came to Canada together in 1966. I have many happy memories of time spent together at the annual bonfire, delicious Boxing Day dinners at their house and our various lunches. I'm sure Roy would have had many memories of their youth together. You will be sadly missed Dave

Our sympathies go out to Dave's Family. I had known Dave throughout my Commercial Insurance career, at the Insurer Level and then as a Broker. His visits to Wallaceburg and across to Michigan, via boats, were a ton of laughs, with great discussions. He was a joy to spend time with...Good Natured and Funny.
I will always remember one particular crossing when he presented his Gliders Pilots License to a somewhat confused US Customs Agent.............priceless.
Rest in Peace,
Kevin Pearson

I , also, can claim to having only "modest" golf talent during my time at the game. Those skills, modest as they were, didn't deter either of us from many enjoyable afternoons in the Wednesday golf league. Whereas those other guys stressed over birdies and pats , Dave and I were tickled pink if we managed the odd bogie.
Didn't know that, in addition to our lengthy careers in the insurance industry, Dave and I shared a love of flying. That subject never came up in the course of post-game beers.
Always enjoyed his company and can be included in the "wide circle of friends" referred to. He was an easy guy to like.

First and foremost our condolences to Lodja and the rest of the family, we are so saddened by his loss, I came into Dave’s life at a later stage and really got to know him well during that time, his interests were my interests, he was the one who got me involved in the Wednesday golf group which he really enjoyed, driving with him to the various golf courses, we had great conversations about life and our community and the things we enjoyed. I will miss his wit and humour greatly, there is a hole in my heart, Dave thanks for including me in part of your life. I have thoroughly enjoyed our conversation and time spent together.

I am so saddened by the loss of my dearest friend, and sincere condolences to Lodja and all the family.
I met Dave when I started working at the Royal Insurance when he was looking for players for the Company's picnic cricket match in 1978, and our friendship went from there.
We flew together for many years and adventures, enjoying breakfasts all over Ontario and coffee on his deck when we could not fly...
The pain is gone, farewell Dave and may the wind always be at your back!
Fondly he will be remembered.

Diane and I extend our deepest condolences to Lodja and family on the sudden passing of Dave.
There are no words that can express the sorrow at the loss of such a treasured friend, fellow pilot and gentleman in every regard.
The shared countless memories of adventures in building and flying our respective Europas and subsequent travels filled a large part of my life, as did his engaging conversations, founded on wide reading, and will be sorely missed.
I realize how fortunate I was to meet Dave, when he was a member of the Embro gliding club, as my instructor 37 years ago.
You are free of pain at last, though your all too sudden loss has left a deep void in the lives of many.
Sincerely
Chris Staines
