Obituary of Leon William van de Ven

After a lengthy illness, with family by his side Leon van de Ven passed away on July 22, 2022 at Bluewater Health, Sarnia at the age 59. Loving husband of Alex for 18 years. Cherished father of Jonathan, Emma, Joy, Justin, Dana and Jackie. Proud opa of Nick, Fayth and Julia. Beloved son of Martha and the late John van de Ven. Brother of Anthony (Ruthie), Willi, Trudy (Majeed), Eric (Angie) and Christine (Tracey). Son-in-law of Arnold and Kia Van Den Heuvel. Brother-in-law to Katherine (Larry), Christine and Vince (Rebecca). Leon will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Leon was born and raised in Strathroy, ON.  Leon loved the country and farm life and eventually took over the family farm in the early 80’s. He was very family oriented and loved spending time with his family. In his youth, he lived an active lifestyle enjoying many sports from hockey, karate and snowmobiling. His unique sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.

He was taken away from us too soon and we miss him deeply. We are comforted by the fact that he is now resting at peace.

A Visitation will take place on Tuesday July 26, 2022 at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY from 1-3pm and 6-8pm. A Funeral service will take place the following day at the funeral home on Wednesday July 27, 2022 at 11am. Interment to follow at All Saints Roman Catholic Cemetery.
