Obituary of John Leroy Tunks

It is with profound sadness that the family of John Tunks announces his passing on November 30, 2022 at Strathmere Lodge at the age of 89. Loving husband of Anita Tunks for 72 wonderful years. Cherished father to Diane (Don) Mac Millan and Terry (JoAnne) Tunks. Proud grandpa of Don (Cindy), Derrick (Kerri), Kari (Mike) and Randy (Jill). Great grandpa to D.J, Jessie, Kelsie, Lauren, Emerson, Livy and Layne. John will be remembered by sister Eva Jean (Gary) Davidson and brothers-in-law Gerald (Marjorie) and Carlyle (Joan) Campbell. Predeceased by his parents Bill and Mabel Tunks and infant sister Adeline.  John will be missed by many family members and friends.

John was a man of many talents, running a gravel company, driving school bus, building houses, Union Gas and working for the Township of Middlesex Centre Roads department. He was very active in his community, being a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners and a member of the Komoka Optimist Club. John was also involved in boy scouts and coaching minor ball. He loved to play golf, curl and ski. John had lots of fond memories with his family and friends.

John's family wishes to thank the staff at Strathmere Lodge for their care and compassion during his time there. 

A Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 4^th, 2022 from 1:30 – 4:00PM at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. A Masonic Service will take place following the Visitation at 4:00pm. A Funeral Service will take place the following day December 5^th, 2022 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
