Obituary of Lilly Rowland

Lilly M Rowland, 79, passed away June 22, 2014 at the Victoria Hospital in London. Lilly was born on October 10, 1934 to Sophie and Harry Korolewych in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. Predeceased by her parents, brother Stan and husband Robert Rowland. Lovingly missed by her sister Olga (Michael 2004), nieces June (Les), Brenda (Al), Marianne (Ted), Patricia and nephew Peter (Louanne). Aunty Lilly will also be remembered by many great nieces/nephews, great-great nieces/nephews and a great-great-great niece. She will be sadly missed by her many friends. Shortly after graduating in St Thomas from nursing in 1956 she studied in the United States to become an anesthetist. Her career took her as far as California finally settling in Michigan where she remained until her retirement. In 1982 she moved back to the family farm in Strathroy to care for her parents. Lilly was an avid golfer, bowler, bingo player and enjoyed bridge with "The Girls". She enjoyed hosting the annual reunion of her graduating nursing class. Over the years her many loving cat companions spent hours entertaining and comforting her. The family wish to extend their many thanks to the palliative care staff at Victoria Hospital in London for their exceptional care and service. A Memorial Service will be held at Denning Brothers Funeral Home, Strathroy on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow at later date. In memory of Lilly, donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation or SPCA.
