Dear Anne and family
We were shocked to hear of John's tragic departure. I was in Strathroy visiting Janet and heard from my sister, Mary Somerville Pennell, in San Diego (good friend of Anne's). Our sincere condolences to the family.
Mary, I remember you well as a role model. Tom was a good friend of my brother, John. Jim Pollock, you and I were in the same grades in high school.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

So sorry to hear about John's passing. He was a good friend and co-worker for many years at both Canada 3000 and Skyservice.
John could always be counted on to share a joke and a smile. I had great respect for him and his skills as a pilot and instructor.
My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

Anne, Tyler & family, please accept my heartfelt condolence for your loss. I am so disappointed that I was unable to attend the funeral service. I do not recollect flying with John but our paths crossed many times. I would periodically contact John for his input and wisdom when addressing safety matters regarding the B757. While I spent all of my time on the airbus aircraft at both Canada 3000 and Skyservice, John’s presence was never far away. The respect that he had garnered from his peers and first officers was evident in every conversation.
I am so sorry for your loss.
Respectfully,

Dear Anne, Tyler and family.
Even though we have not known you and John for very long, we always remember the day we met you both. We were walking our 3 dogs and you both came up to us and introduced yourselves and said "hello and welcome to the neighbourhood" you made us feel at home. We will always remember John and his big smile and of course him flying over our neighbourhood.
Our thoughts and prayer go out to you all and hopefully each day will get a little bit better. Remember all the great times and his memory will last forever.

Many of us in the Air Traffic Control Community remember John with such fondness. Moose Jaw was made one of my best postings controlling friends like John taking Flight Training in the 70s. Our social life was filled with laughter and great memories that we cherished throughout my career in the Air Force. I used to look for John as I travelled the Boeing routes after moving on to other Bases and eventually contact was lost but John & Anne were never forgotten. Whenever reminiscences included the Air Force you were in our thoughts.
Anne and Tyler you remain in our thoughts and together with John will never be forgotten.

It was a great shock to Nora and I to receive notice from Ron and Barb of John's passing last week. Although our collective postings to Lahr seemed so long ago, it it was our pleasure to have known John as a wonderful person and a very professional controller and aviator. Our hearts go out to you and your son in this time of grief.

John was my neighbour and a friend. A few memories that come to mind I would like to
share. I remember going out one night with John and Anne. The comedian picked on
John (who was sitting in the front row) and hence was known as "Chuck with the
package" and "Arizona Annie." Another time we were at Warplane Heritage for an evening and the men bid on a ride on the Lancaster Bomber and won. That was an
exciting evening for all. He came to the shop one day, took his cap off and said, "do
you think Anne will like it?" He was referring to his bald head. He said the barber cut it
a little short.
I will forever look to the sky and remember John flying over the house and tipping his
wings as a gesture of "hi."
I will miss John's quick wit and his corny jokes. My condolences to Anne and Tyler.
Forever in my heart and never to be forgotten.

We were so sorry to hear of the passing of John. Such a fun loving and wonderful man!
We will miss him in Pebble Creek, as he embraced all the community had to offer. Who else would navigate the neighborhood in roller blades? Or be brave enough to pick up pickle ball and go at it with great enthusiasm?
We were fortunate to meet him and share him with you, if just for a very short time.
Anne, we look forward to welcoming you back to Pebble Creek with lots of hugs and tearful smiles.

John was a King....one of the finest of this world. John was a rare man; he had every attribute that makes up an extraordinary human being. He will be remembered forever as a man of great intelligence, accomplishments, integrity, and most admirable of all for a person of his caliber, humility.
I regret not remembering to tell John how I saw several similarities between him and pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger who ditched his plane on the Hudson River. Each of them enjoyed extreme success in their careers, were humble in the face of such success and were simply all around good men. I even see a similarity in their looks, although no one could top that incredible smile of John’s. (But Sully does have more hair.) I bet Sully would have thoroughly enjoyed a conversation with John. What would that conversation between them have sounded like? Pretty interesting would be an understatement.
Rest in peace dear friend, you will be sorely missed by us all.

To Ann, tyler,Pearson Familyand Pollock Family,
It is with sincere sadness that we extend our prayers and thoughts to you Ann and all the family members. As a Strathroy graduate I remember many happy times growing up with the friendship of the Pearson and Pollock families. Ken and I reunited with John on a Canada 3000 flight to Mexico. How proud we were to think that John would welcome us into the cockpit to have a short visit. I also remember before getting on the plane and seeing the pilot saying to Ken I guess it will not be John flying us as this pilot is bald!!!!!!!!!! Never would I admit that age changes all of our appearances. May these memories as the many you have accumulated relieve some of the pain.
Sincerely
Ken and Jean Porteous & Family

Dear Anne, Tyler and all the Pearson extended family. I was so sad to hear about John.. This is such a tragedy and my heart goes out to all of you. I wanted to share a fond memory I have of John.
Coming home from a sun destination , the announcement came on - it was "Captatin John Pearson speaking". How excited and proud I was to know that a "Strathroy boy" was taking us safely home so I told the stewardess to tell John ,"Jane Gibson from Strathroy was on the plane." I was a little shy to do it because while I knew Anne well, John was a little older and I only knew him seeing him on the street or with Anne. It was such a treat to have him be so friendly and call me up to the cockpit to show me what it was like up there. We had a few laughs --the copilot and I at John's expense I remember --he was fun and generous with his time that night. That was John!! I knew he had flown the GG but that night just a bunch of tourists were happy to have him in charge.

I was given the extraordinary opportunity of meeting John at the Brantford Airport just a few weeks ago. He helped us promote the Rotary Charity Airshow through CHCH-TV with the female reporter excitedly pretending to steal away in his aircraft. My first thought was that this gentleman, a passionate aviator and positive influence to everyone around him, was the kind of person I had the fortune to become acquainted and would expect to become more involved with in the future. My most recent thought was one should treasure these chance encounters and I will always remember his enthusiasm and humour as an incentive in my own life. I extend my condolences to John's family and salute John's journey to that higher runway on his next flight plan.
