I met Pat while coaching special Olympics, which he was actively involved in. His devotion to his sister Beth was always very apparent. I was so sorry to hear of his passing.

Pat, as he always introduced himself, worked at King's University College for decades and, while doing so, earned his degree, and then set up an award for students, who, as he did, necessarily had to extend their education over a considerable time. From the time I first met him when I was a King's student to when I last saw him at a recent College Homecoming, he was always the most welcoming, gracious, good-humored, and kind man.

Gilzean's Creek Board of Directors, Staff and the Membership wish to offer our heartfelt condolences to Pat's friends and family.
He was fondly referred to by some as "The Mayor of Gilzean's," and for over two decades Pat generously contributed his time and energy to Gilzean's Creek Housing Cooperative. He was well respected by his neighbours and Gilzean's Creek Members, and former members will always remember Pat's love for trees and plants, and his lovely chats, as he sat outside and was part of the inner community.

I have known Patrick for 38 years since I met him at King's College. During those years he was constantly in touch, a true friend, providing support and love for me where ever I went. He took my handicapped brother into his heart and visited him regularly when my family was unable to do so. I always regarded him as an earth bound angel. Now he is my guardian angel. I will miss him, but he will be forever in my heart.

I would like to offer my condolences to Patrick's family. My name is Kathryn Burke and I'm from Nova Scotia.
Patrick was such a beautiful person. He saw beauty and good in everything. I told my family over 25years ago that I had actually met an angel....he was so accepting and kind to others. His sister Sandra was lucky to have him as a brother.
I miss Patrick's Saturday evening phone calls. Always a story to tell. We both loved gardening and I would occasionally send pictures of our gardens.
When my father died Pat told me I no longer had to pray for him but that I could pray to him. I will be praying to Patrick asking for guidance in the hopes of becoming more like him.
Rest in Peace my friend., Sincerely, Kathryn

Dearest Pat.....we were neighbours for 25 yrs at Gilzeans. You were the plant man to all us as kids out there. You showed us love for nature and that you could grow a forest from a few simple little seeds. Life got so busy for me, I'm sad to say I didn't keep up with you and your life these past couple years. You were a great brother to Sandra, and she loved you for that. You were a great man and a blessing to have had on this earth. The trees that line Gilzeans, along Spence Drive, will always remind me of you because you started each and every one of them from seed!! Rest in peace Pat!! Xoxoxo
