I had a lovely, lively correspondence with Eleanore for the last few years of her life--she was my father's cousin, and I first encountered her after I got interested in genealogy. I had sent her a card at Christmas, and was surprised not to hear back from her, but I knew she had been in declining health, and thought perhaps she simply was not up to it. I am saddened to learn of her passing. I had always hoped we might one day meet in person. And so we shall, but not on this side.
Eleanore hired me to VON in about 1979. She was one of the most gracious people I have ever met, knowledgeable in nursing, and an inspiring leader. She was a pleasure to work for. I haven't seen her for many years, but, like many others, I will never forget her and always be grateful that I was privileged to work for her.
Elanore hired me to work for the VON in Sarnia around 1981. She was always an inspiration to me. We all worked hard to keep our standards very high because of her inspiration. I am sorry I hadn't seen her for a long time but I will certainly never forget her and her gentle ways.
