Obituary of Verna Mae Watson

Passed away at Mount Hope Centre for Long-term Care on October 16th, 2015 in her 100th year. Beloved wife of Mervin (Mike) Watson who predeceased her on Oct. 26, 1996. Dear mother of Dr. Bruce Watson and his wife Dr. Maureen Volk of St. John’s, NL; and Susan Wilcox and her husband Wayne of Strathroy, On. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Scott Wilcox (Lindsay McCready); Greg (Nikki) Wilcox; Michael Watson and Amie Watson. Great-grandma, GG, to Jaclyn Wilcox. Survived by her sister Beverly Armstrong (late Bill) of Burlington and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters and brother-in-laws Marion (Bruce) Hay and Eileen (Fred) Woods. Verna was born in Kerwood, On, on April 11, 1916 to parents William and Annie Brigham. Verna lived 30 years in Wardsville where she was a partner with her husband Mike in the hardware business. After retiring to London for 22 years, Verna returned to the Strathroy area, living in Trillium Village. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th, 2015 at Denning’s of Strathroy, from 7 until 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday October 21st at 11a.m. Interment to follow at Strathroy Cemetery.
