Obituary of Gerry Stapleton

At this time our hearts are filled with sadness as we announce the passing of Gerald Leonard Stapleton on Saturday, January 9th, 2016. Dear and beloved husband of Julie (Denning). Father of Peggy Schnurr (Nova Scotia), Margaret Wilson (British Columbia), Leonard and Mark Stapleton (London). Proud Grandpa of Brianna, Nicole and Marcus Stapleton. Much loved brother of LeRoy and Joan Stapleton (London). Brother-in-law of Jayne and Roland Pratt (Pennsylvania), David and Carolyn Denning (London). He will be sorely missed by his faithful Shitzu dog, "Bella Rose". Much of Gerry's life was spent as a businessman, operating his own enterprises as Building Maintenance and Janitorial Services. Active in London and area communities, Gerry was a member of many organizations such as Chamber of Commerce and founder of Business after Five. Junior Achievement, Rotary Club, Garrison Community Council, 427 Wing and the Great Lakes Cruising Club were also among the associations Gerry shared with others and made life-long friends. Gerry's passion for life would truly show when he was singing or spending time on the water. His active life, endearment to boating and music reflected how he chose to deepen his life and unite freely with God's love. "Captain Gerry, Karaoke Kid" or as his dear departed friend Tom Lawson would call him" Julio", he will be greatly missed and has left us many wonderful memories. Celebrate now his life. Visitation will be held Monday, January 18th, 2016 at Denning's of Strathroy (32 Metcalfe St. West) from 2-4 p.m and 7-9p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 19th at Holy Family Parish (777 Valetta St. London) at 10 a.m with reception to follow. Gerry's wishes were in support of London Cardiac Fitness Institute LHSC and the dedication of Dr. Larry Patrick. Online condolences may be left at denning.ca.
