Obituary of Laurie Blackwell

Laurie John Blackwell of Watford Ontario, formerly of Chatham, Thunder Bay, Saskatoon and London. Laurie was born May 5, 1949 in Clinton and passed away at Bluewater Health in Sarnia on March 5, 2012. Laurie is survived by his loving mother Orma Blackwell (Stevens) of Strathroy and predeceased by his father John Blackwell (2002). Dear brother of Robert and Karen Blackwell of Goderich and Keith Blackwell of Morpeth. Uncle to Lorraine Blackwell (Rob Johnson), Neil Blackwell (Selina) and great uncle of Terran and Rowan Johnson. Laurie will be sadly missed by all his aunts, uncles and cousins. Laurie was employed for many years by the Department of Veterans Affairs in both London and Saskatoon. He retired to Thunder Bay prior to moving to South Western Ontario. He had a life-long involvement with Scouts Canada and was "Akela" to many cubs. Laurie was also extensively involved with the United Church of Canada in each of the communities in which he lived. Fishing and camping were passionate interests. A Memorial Service will be held at Watford United Church on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 3 p.m. with Mr. Carey Wagner officiating. In memory of Laurie, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, Scouts Canada or Mission Service Fund-United Church of Canada.
