Peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Tuesday October 25th, 2011. George (Sjoerd) de Vlugt of Strathroy in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Clara (Klaaske) de Vlugt for 56 years. Dear father of Hinka (David) Gilbert of Pennsylvania, Louis (Sandra) de Vlugt of Kitchener, Grace (Lester) Josey of North Carolina, Robert (Evelyn) de Vlugt of Carp, Teresa (Gerry) Brummelhuis of Kitchener, Paul (Lori) de Vlugt of Lively, George (Michelle) de Vlugt of Strathroy and Peter de Vlugt of London. Proud grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Tet Jackson of London, Sietske (Jack) Dyer of Lobo, Hanneke (John) Vanderspek of Cambridge, Paul (Joan) de Vlugt of Wyoming, Bob (Ida) de Vlugt of Nairn, Pieter (Noreen) de Vlugt of Arizona. Predeceased by sisters Bregtje Raterink and Sjoukje Sloetjes. Visitation will be held at Denning Bros. Funeral Home in Strathroy on Thursday, October 27th from 2-4pm and 6:30-8:30pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday October 28th at 1:30pm. Pastor Patrick Read officiating. Interment to follow at Strathroy Cemetery.
