Obituary of Alice Arends

Peacefully on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, Alice (Aly) Arends (nee Bos) went to be with her Lord, surrounded by her family, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Jake Arends (2009). Loving mother of Minnie and Pete Boersma of Mount Brydges, Jerry and Marg of Strathroy, John and Cris of London, Jake and Janie of Aylmer, Charlie and Henny of Waterford, Ron and Mary of St. Thomas, and Cindy and Dave Mann of Listowel. Cherished grandma of 28 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Barb Hoogstra of Red Deer, Alberta, Ena Smids of Sarnia, Hilly (Stan) Smids of Petrolia, Clara (John) Beishuizen of Sarnia. Dear sister-in-law of Ralph (Mary) Arends, Janet Hovius and Frances VanderVeen. Predeceased by brother Jan, brothers-in-law Max Hoogstra, Joe Smids, Bob Hovius and Abe VanderVeen. Friends will be received at Westmount Christian Reformed Church, 405 Drury Lane, Strathroy on Friday from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. where the Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Peter Hoytema officiating. Interment to follow in Strathroy Cemetery. In memory of Alice, donations may be made to the Canadian Parkinson's Society or Charity of your choice.
