Obituary of Evelyn McNeil

Peacefully at Strathmere Lodge on Monday, February 8, 2011. Evelyn Alfreda (Beck) (Branan) McNeil of Strathroy in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late George William Branan (1977) and Robert Angus McNeil (1985). She was born in Wyoming, Ontario, the daughter of the late Alfred Ernest Beck and Bertha Winnifred (Brock) Beck. She is survived by her daughter Lynda Cole and her husband James of Stratford; grandson's Richard Cole of Oakville and Bruce Cole and his wife Tanya of Cambridge and their children Hailey and MacEwan Cole. Also survived by in-laws; Cornelius and Lucy (Branan) Van Belois and Donald and Madeline (Grundy) Branan. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers and their wives; Dresda and Kay (Cox) Beck and Keith and Thelma (Ludwig) Beck. Also predeceased by in-laws; Kenneth and Mary (Branan) Foster, Richard and wife Ada (MacArthur) Branan and Helen Branan. Evelyn's family would like to thank the staff, auxiliary and residents of Strathmere Lodge for their support, car and compassion during her 14 years as a resident and especially in her final days. A heartfelt thank you to special family friends Ruel and Judith (Beck) Huffman for their kindness to Evelyn. Evelyn faced and overcame life's many challenges with courage, endurance, resourcefulness, humour, creativity and resilience. Her inner light always shone through. A private memorial service was held on March 3, 2011 with interment in Strathroy Cemetery.
