Obituary of Norman Smith

Peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Sunday April 4, 2010. Norman S. Smith of Strathroy in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Thelma (Breedon) Smith for 68 years. Loving father of Brenda LaCroix and Marcia (Robert) McArthur. Grandfather of Brad (Jane) Paterson, Angela (Ian) Bladon, Darren (Kim) McArthur. Great grandfather of Benton and James Paterson and Spencer and Rees Bladon. Norman leaves behind his brother Ross (Doris) Smith, sister Kathleen Butler (Grant) (1998) and sister in law Donna Gough (Smith). Predeceased by his sisters Fern Garton(Clarence), Ieleen Gough (James) and Jean Lightfoot (Donald) and his brothers Stuart and Lyle Smith. Loved by many nieces, nephews and friends. Norman served overseas in WW II from 1942 to 1945 and was an active member of Royal Canadian Legion, Sir Arthur Currie Branch #116 Strathroy and Beaver Lodge #83 AF & AM Masonic Lodge Strathroy and St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Strathroy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 7, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church (34 Head Street, Strathroy) from 12:00 pm to 1:00pm where the memorial funeral service will be held with Rev Karen Nelles officiating. Private family interment in Strathroy Cemetery at a later date. A legion Memorial service will be held at the church on Wednesday April 7th at 11:30 am under the direction of Sir Arthur Currie Branch #116 Strathroy. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. John's Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.
