I met Connie in September of 1968 when we started Nursing training at St Joseph's Hospital in Guelph Ontario. Connie always had lots of advice and participated in healthy mischief during those times. Monthly dances at the nurses residence, exploring the city of Guelph, pie and ice cream at the restaurant downtown.
We traveled back to Guelph many times for alumni reunions.
Although Connie's nursing career was not long due to health reasons she was very proud to call herself a registered nurse.
She was my maid of honor twice and told me not to ask me again if that last one didn't work out!! Connie could be fiercely honest but a true friend.
She is Aunt Connie to my son Jeremy.
We have remained friends over the years with telephone visits and my visiting to her in London when possible.
I was very fortunate to call Connie my friend.
Condolences to your family Connie.
Rest well.
Love

I met Connie in grade 9 at Medway High. We had lots of fun times together. I will remember her sense of mischief and how she loved to laugh.
In grade 13 Connie and I walked together in a walkathon from Lucan to Medway- a fund raiser of some sort. Connie and I were the last ones to arrive and just before the finish line, with a hearty laugh, she took off running- not to be last over the finish line!
Connie always had a car, courtesy of her dad. These cars always had a story or a problem. For a while, when she was in nurses training in Guelph, she drove an old Cadillac, red with fins. The caddy often stalled at intersections. There was Connie, leaned over the engine, in her white uniform, pounding on something with a wrench. There were whistles and honks. Connie saw the humour in most situations and was not deterred.
I am sad to lose my friend but relieved that she is at peace.

So sorry to read of Connie's passing. Sending our deepest sympathy to you, Gayle, and your family. On Boxing Day when our family was together, we were reminicing, as you often do at this time of year, and we were remembering visiting your home in Lobo. What fun it was! Very fond memories ❣

Hi Connie,
I know that you got your wings and are with your, Mom, dad and Clarke...let’s not forget “Tilly”.
I am really going to miss our chats, visits and our trips to get fresh fruit and veggies in the country.
It was nice to see your old homestead and to listen to you reminisce and share memories of your growing up and becoming a nurse.
We had a lot of laughs about our “see food” diet...see food...eat it...lol
Knowing that you are now pain-free...at last...will help me accept your passing...save a seat for me.
You are gone...but never forgotten.
Your friend, Always...Christine Johnstone

Dear Gayle
So sad to hear of Connie's passing. Lynda often kept me up to date as she kept in touch with Connie. Great memories of our early years at Medway High and my time spent with your family. We winter in Florida so will not be able to attend the service. Thinking of you. What a wonderful picture.
