I met John about 20 years ago while traveling around Canada. John was a straightforward man, one of the first questions he asked me upon arrival was, ‘How long are you staying?’ I can’t remember what he said to my answer of, ‘Maybe a year’ but we clicked immediately. I loved John’s sense of humour. I can remember nights where there were tears of laughter, especially over my prank calls with telemarketers. Living in Australia has prevented us from spending a lot of time together but the times I had with John (and Carol) are some of the most memorable. The Miles’ are such hospitable and generous people. I am so thankful to God for having met ‘the wagon master’, he has left a lasting impression for sure. ‘Andiamo!’

Even though we live thousands of miles apart John’s life touched our hearts. Our ancestors families took us to different countries. You Canada. Us Australia. From the moment we met John and Carol in London Ontario they opened their home and hearts to us. We are the beneficiaries of their warm hospitality. I loved John’s forthrightness and his sense of humour. He was energetic and enthusiastic. He loved life and was kind and caring. He loved his family. We all loved John.
