MaryAnne: my condolences to you and your family. So sorry to hear of the passing of Peter.
I left the mill back in 2009. I remember Peter over the years I was on the same shift as he was. He would call me quite regularly to fix some electrical problem that was going on. Even though the Lime Kiln and Causticizer buildings were not my favourite parts of the mill to work in, he had the time to help me out in determining what the problem might be. Afterwards we would meet up in the control room to discuss many topics around coffee and food. Our discussions would be longer on the night shifts. He was a good worker and friend to me at the mill. I will always remember him.

My most sincere condolences!
Many times while I was on the loader, I would feel I was being watched, I look around, then way up at the top of the Kiln, there is Peter waving at me (LOL) .
Or a call over the radio would be answered by Peter with his typical response of...Good morning, how may I help you (depending on time of night or day)!
Didn't seem to matter whether good or bad things were happening, Peter was always somehow finding some brighter side even if was that we only had half hour left and we go home!
Peter was Peter and all in a great way.
The last time I heard from Peter was his condolences to me when my Dad passed. Peters words were very warming.
Rest well Peter my old friend, until we meet again.

What a wonderful way to remember him by. Losing one's father always weighed heavily on him so I am not surprised the you found his words warming when your Dad passed. Thank you for your condolences Craig. Resting was one of his favorite pass-times so I am sure he will rest well until you meet again.

Maryanne; you are not alone in your grief. I’ll always remember times spent with Peter; as good times. Peters candor and wit, brought forth great open-minded conversation, only a true friend can provide. Peter gave new meaning to the word “Bacon” and will always be in my thoughts when frying some up. The world has lost a great soul. Peter will be missed by those fortunate enough to know him. Good-bye; Great Man.

Yes Doug, Peter will certainly be missed. The Woodroom was a whole lot of years ago, but that never stopped him from reminiscing. That had to be back in '75 when he started in the Woodroom. He always started with the old joke: I worked in the Woodroom for this many years - and hold up three fingers indicating how many he lost. Thank you for reaching out.

Im sorry to hear of Peters passing Maryanne. My sincerest condolences to you and Peters son.
Peter and I worked shift together for many years thru thick and thin good times and bad. Its no exaggeration to say Peter was one of a kind blazing his own trail thru life sometimes elbows out, sometimes heart felt caring and always confident. He called it as he saw it and never backed away from a challenge. Peter seamed to know what he wanted and how to get there and I always respected his opinion.
Im glad you two could share the good years in retirement. He always said "I love this one" Take care

Now that's a true summation of Peter. Thanks for the chuckle. He most certainly was his own man. He spoke a lot about work and you in particular. We both know the nick-name he had for you and he used it with the utmost respect for you. Thank you for reaching out.
