Knew Jim for only a few years, when sharing the St. Thomas YMCA pool/whirlpool. Jim was an authentic person and a real standout guy. If he liked you, you knew it, and a smile from Jim could make your day. Any that met you Mr. Ogg, will not soon forget you .. me among them.

I worked with Jim for a brief time over 40 years ago at the LPD. Many have posted here that he was kind and soft spoken and I will add to that. Jim quietly “showed up” for me at a couple of difficult times those many years ago. His kindness and understanding was unexpected and generous and I will never forget. I am saddened at Jim’s passing and send my condolences to his children and family and his countless friends. Jim was definitely one of a kind and will be missed.

Jim ogg was my first love.We met at SDCI and he was the cutest guy there and very athletic too! He was so romantic--carrying over gates and thresholds, proposing on one knee under the stars. We married after high school. He bought me records like "My Girl"" and "Love Story" . We had two amazing, smart kids together--Paula and Scott. We were so proud of them. Jim's eyes would light up and his voice would fill with love when he saw them and spoke about them. Even after we separated he came to their soccer and hockey games and track and field events. You never forget your first love so he will always be part of my memories. Scott married Amy a wonderful loving woman and they had two boys --Maguire and Watson who are the new loves of my life, along with my husband Loring. They loved Grandpa and made Jim smile a lot. Who knows maybe they will follow in Jim's footsteps as they love to handcuff people and try to direct traffic in front of my Ipperwash home. Jim you will live on through them. May you Rest In Peace in the loving arms of Jesus. May Jesus give peace and comfort to our kids and all the Ogg family and friends.

Jim was the senior golfer in our 4 some for many years. We tore up Pleasant Valley so bad they had to sell it and rename it Iron Creek. We spent a lot of hours finding balls and 'setting them free". Jim always talked golf, he loved Jordan Spieth for some reason, the Blue Jays and the Leaf's. Jim was known to be so kind even the local deer came to him for a treat or a petting. It will not be the same without him. He will always be with us.

In my 34+ year career with the LPS, I really only worked with OGGY for a year in 1994 when I was assigned to the Robbery/Arson Squad in CID under the leadership of Det/Sgt Welmore Cranston. Oggy, the Sergeant, was teamed up with Norm Ossau and I with Tyler Cowan. Oggy was the "Columbo" of the 4 man team, with his workboots and mismatched outfits, beige cordoroy suit jacket, something resembling a neck tie, and his disorganized/unorganized case files scattered across his desk, but an amazing unassuming talent to solve crimes through his common sense interviewing techniques and abilities to bond with the average 'joe'. I remember gathering for 'team meetings' with the 4 of us at CUFFS after work on afternoon shift with MONTY YOUNG (the handsome bartender, did I ever tell you the Royal York Hotel story) and golfing dates, where Jimmy had more beers in his bag than clubs!!!! Rest in peace my friend. Cheers BA (Retired SGT #6400)

A wonderful man...we are sure all of the family have heard these words a lot the past few days and throughout Jim's life.
We had the opportunity to work with Jim and played fastball on the LPF team. A quiet man but all that knew him knew what a great guy he was.
