Obituary of Virginia Diane Miller

It is with broken hearts the family of Virginia Diane Miller (nee Dale), born in Toronto, November 13, 1941, announce her passing in London, June 15, 2021. Beloved wife of 42 years to Robert W. Miller. Mother to daughters Karen (Bill Kelly), Cindy (Greg Penney), and Dana. Grandmother to Kendra, Jordan, Alysia, Jordan, Evan, Caleb, and Carson. Bonus grandmother to Maya and Neco. Great-grandmother to Lily, Grayson, Noelle, and Elias. Bonus great-grandmother to Mataen. Aunt to nephew Drew and niece Jennifer.  Predeceased by mother, Clare Dale (nee Taylor), mother-in-law, Gladys Jervis, sister, Sharon (Gary Lane), and father, Verne Dale.

Affectionately known as Ginny, Mom graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1962 and McMaster University Nurse Practitioner program in 1979. Among her proudest accomplishments, she taught community nursing at Conestoga College, and contributed to research with Addictions Research Foundation with a publication in The New England Journal of Medicine, along with 30+ dedicated years of psychiatric nursing.

Highly skilled with knitting needles, crochet hooks, and her trusty Singer sewing machine, Mom was also an entrepreneur (Processing Accessories Canada, Tots N’ Teens Transit), and an avid antique collector. She supported Bob and the Ceremonial Band of the Waterloo Regional Police Service for 29 years. She loved her white convertibles, road tripping with Bob, hot dogs in Port Dover, and often reminisced of the simpler times of her youth, so much so she wrote a book of her memories chronicling her life for her daughters.

Mom was always ready to listen and help, always there with love and support. Her kindness and generosity will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Mom always had the right words and advice for every situation.

Words cannot express our gratitude to Bob for his unwavering, unconditional love and care for Mom, especially in these last few months.

At Mom’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held June 18, 2021 in Strathroy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to The Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation. Online condolences and donations may be made at www.srathroyfuneralhome.com

If there ever comes a day where we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.”
