Kathy and Mel,
So sorry to hear of the loss of your mother and grandmother. While it is painful for those left behind for now, rest in the assurance that for the believer, to be "away from the body" is to be "at home with the Lord." (2 Corinthians 5:8b)

Dear Karen, Kathy and Mary,
We had a call from Dan to let us know of the Eileen's passing - he knew we would want to know. So many years have gone by since our Strathroy years, but still I remember the kindness that Eileen and Ernie showed to us while we were there. When Eric was a baby I would often head to your house for afternoon cuppa with Eileen while our other two boys were in school. . I felt lonely - a fish out of water - and those afternoons with Eileen were a lifeline for me. I will never forget her smile and her laugh - nor Ernie's. They were a wonderful example of a loving Christian marriage. Please pass along our sympathies to all your family - we are so sorry for your loss.
BTW - I loved the slide show - it was so nice to see your Aunt Helen again and to see your kids through years. Eileen and Ernie made something beautiful and you have continued on with that - a legacy that will last.

Karen, Kathy, Mary... and your family members and friends...
I am presently at a friend's cottage in Bancroft, but so wish I could be with you all tomorrow to reminisce about what a wonderful gift you all and we had with having Eileen in our lives. As you know, she and Ernest welcomed my family into the neighbourhood and into First Baptist Church when we first moved to Drury Lane. Then Eileen took us all into your family activities and celebrations. She will be very much missed by us all.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Eileen's family and friends. Her beautiful smile and bright spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Eileen was such a bright light and her beautiful lilting soprano voice lifted our spirit's in praise to her Saviour as she brought glory to Him. We can only imagine her beautiful voice lifted in praise in Glory as she experiences the joy of a wonderful reunion.
She was a faithful devoted wife to her husband and a wise loving mother to her three beautiful daughters. I am especially grateful to her for my precious daughter-in-law and the teaching and high standards she set for her.
Eileen will be so missed here ,but we are thankful that she is released from all suffering.
Romans8:18'For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.' "Eileen is in His presence where there is,"fullness of joy for evermore."

Love and prayers to everyone in the McEwen family and extended family members. Strathroy, and indeed, First Baptist Church (FBC) is just a dimmer place without Eileen. Condolences from the Greenwood family.
Anyone who had the blessing of growing up in FBC also knew the joy and pleasure of growing up with the McEwen family as close friends and therefore knew Eileen as a strong and committed friend, mother, Baptist, and leader. Her steadfast work, spirit and voice built the backbone of our community. Christmases simply couldn't be more magical and special in our youth when coupled with the comfort and joy of Christmas Eve at the McEwen home.
The world is less without Eileen but of course our loss is Heaven's gain. There is no doubt Eileen was welcomed home with the words we all cherish and want to hear: "Welcome home, good and faithful servant".
Karen, Kathy, Mary - love and prayers. Lean on us.
