Muriel and I worked together at CRA for many years and we attended an accounting course at Mohawk College as part of our extended learning. It was my great pleasure to have known Muriel who had so many wonderful qualities including a common sense and articulate approach to life and issues. Of all the people in our accounting course, it was Muriel who stood out as the one who had a firm grasp of the subject matter and gained the respect of our teacher, a partner at Clarkson and Gordon. Numbers were her forte, an interlocking motif of logic and reason.
For many years, she cared for her sister, Beth, and sewed lovely clothing for her nieces. I had never known her to complain about anything that happened to her in life. She accepted whatever came her way and dealt with it in a clear, effective manner.
I loved receiving her Christmas letters and card, so beautifully and thoughtfully written. Full of sage advice and interesting comments.
She was a true lady of a bygone generation who lived a life of kindness, courage and compassion. Our world is poorer for her loss, but our lives are richer for her friendship. Rest in peace, Muriel.
