Obituary of Margaret Landstra
At the age of 68, on Saturday, February 28, 2009, surrounded by her family, Kay Landstra quietly passed away, after a courageous battle with cancer, at LHSC University Campus London. She was a kidney transplant survivor for 23 years, having received her first kidney in Kingston in 1987 and her second kidney at University Campus, London in 1997. She was a predeceased by her parents Alex (1965) and Mary (1995) McLean and sister Ariel (1995). Wife of Lester Landstra, Manitouwanga, Ont. Cherished sister of of Sharon Moore and her husband Ross, Petrolia; Shirley Campbell and her husband Ken, Alvinston; and Jim McLean and his wife Linda, Watford. Loved aunt of Jennifer (Norm) Conkey, Steve (Hazel) Moore, Fred Moore and (Sari Lindvall), Tim Campbell, Jeff (Sherri) Campbell, Dana (Jay) DeMaiter, Chris McLean and Lauren McLean. She is also survived by 9 great nieces and nephews. According to Kay's wishes there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Private family interment. Kay's family wish to thank The Appin Tour Group for their love and friendship with her during her stays in Florida. Thanks to Dr. Moorehead and the staff in the Department of Nephrology, University Hospital for their care in helping Kay keep her kidney. Special thanks to the caregivers on the 6th floor, Palliative Care at University Hospital for their kindness and compassion during her time there.
