Uncle Fred will be remembered fondly as we all hold great memories of him growing up. Some fond memories include things like a raccoon stealing cheezies from the trunk of his car while gramma Maloney swatted it with a broom while camping. Or another funny story was while we were out fishing up north. I had the end of my rod just sticking in the water and not cast. Uncle Fred said to me “you’re never going to catch a fish that way” and no sooner did he say that, a nice keeper pike swims up the bank and latches on. We will also miss his impromptu Dublin visits and his traditional corned beef and cabbage dinners for St Patrick’s day. My sincerest condolences to the family. -Robyn

Our prayers and sincere condolences go out to Fred's family. For many years, as a parent and teacher, I was blessed to have witnessed Fred's kind, caring, patient and compassionate nature not only with my special son Luke but with all of the students he worked with at St. Vincent de Paul school. Fred always went out of his way to greet our family at church and his kindness will always be remembered. He was truly a special man!

Sending my deepest condolences to the family. Fred came into my classroom at St. Vincent de Paul to lead children in the praying of the rosary. He was a very faithful man and we had many wonderful conversations regarding our faith in God and our love of Mary our Mother. His service will be truly missed. He showed his faith through his actions. RIP

Many years ago our young family moved to Strathroy to begin a new future. We were met by the patriarch of Moffat Lane, Fred. His welcome was so warm and authentic we knew a friendship had begun within moments of the trucks being unloaded. Fred and Terry were of course were more than just neighbours, they were also de facto grandparents for all the young ones who lived on that great street, perhaps more so for our kids, as their own grandparents lived some distance away. Fred was always ready to chat, to assist with a project, or sneak an ice cream treat to the kids after school.
Fred was more than that, he was also the wise counsel and buddy for us Dads too, Fred always seemed ready to share a story from his days in the military, or of adventures in the Airstream he and Terry took all over. Fred was also always happy to listen to a story of ours too, often sharing a cold one with us. His favorite stories however always included his own family whom he cherished more than anything.
Fred was far more than just the man a few doors down, he was a role model, a mentor, a co-conspirator, and friend.
Mary and I, along with our kids Sarah, Scott and Erin, have some very happy memories of our time in Starthroy, Fred Overdulve and his whole family are a very big part of why our time there was so special. I just know Fred is again with his Terry, certain they are touring all over Heaven together, pulling an Airstream once again.
Thank you for your many years of friendship and for all you have done for our family and the whole community. You will be remembered always Sir Knight.

My family and I were lucky enough to know Fred. He was a supervisor at recess at the elementary school my brothers and I went to. He was also a neighbour, just living a few houses down the street from us. My brothers helped out with yard work at their home for some time. When I lived at home I would often see him walking his dog and we’d catch up every now and then. I will always remember him fondly. He was a very sweet man.

Our most sincere condolences to Fred's family during this time of great loss. We had just moved to Strathroy 20 years ago when I first met Fred at St. Vincent de Paul school, where he was volunteering his time to read with students who just needed a little extra help. We realized that we attended the same parish, and I remember Fred as being someone who was very welcoming, and he always remembered our names and everything about us. As the years went by, he asked how the boys were doing as they grew, and told us we were doing a good job. I don't know if he realized how encouraging those words were to us. Fred was a kind and faithful soul, giving of his time and his care. May good memories comfort you in the days ahead.
Love, Juanita & Hubert Vandenberg - Jacob, Gavin, Max & Mason
