Sorry to hear of my cousin’s passing. Rick, even though we lost touch and hadn’t seen each other in a while you were frequently in my thoughts. So glad you had a happy time in your retired life, so sad I wasn’t a larger part of your life. We will continue to think of you every time we drive down Concession Road, past the old homestead. Sleep well, brother.
We were shocked and saddened by the news of Rick’s passing as we felt the profound loss of a true friend. What immediately comes to mind was Rick’s self-deprecating humour : when trying to encourage him to share a beach day, he declined citing not wishing to be mistaken for a beached whale.
We will miss his unannounced drop-ins.

My deepest condolences to Ricks family. I was lucky enough to be his neighbour for 6 years and enjoy some laughs over coffee or drink. He became a good friend to me in those six years. You will be missed Rick.
My Heart is Broken for A Beautiful young Lady whom Rick adored and spent his time with till the very End!! I’m sorry I never had the chance to meet you but I feel I did so many years ago. Sandra Lit up every time she spoke your name, you must have been pretty Wonderful!!

So sad to hear of Ricks passing. We had a lot of fun times with Rick, from campfires to drop in visits he never stopped smiling. Retirement looked good on him. He was a character that’s for sure. Going to miss him and that smile.
John and I were very sad to hear of Ricks passing….far too soon. He certainly was a character …full of life, friendly jokes and yes, willing to help everyone. We shared many stories and great chats around campfires in Wingham over the years. His children and ours climbed the trees, and hills and shared many great adventures. Sincere condolences to all….he was a great guy.

Rick was my coach officer in Wingham when I started with the OPP 24+ years ago. Rick had 21 years on the job then and only agreed to coach so that he would have a partner to work with in the “North” of Huron County. Well, he and I got along like two peas in a pod. He showed me the ropes and we had a lot of fun working together. Rick will be missed by many. He was a great guy! I’m glad he was my coach! Craig Soldan.
