Louise Gare

Obituary of Louise Gare

Elva LOUISE Gare (nee Thomas)
March 29, 1939- March 23, 2023

While still residing in her home per her wishes, Louise passed away after a life fully lived. She was predeceased by her husband Don in 2006. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family: Brian and Winnie Gare, Laurie Ferguson, Steve Gare and Karen Thwaites, Kyle, Kim, Thomas and Colin Ferguson, Kelly Gare, Brad Gare, Jasmyne, Mike and Cameron Perri; her siblings Earlene and Cameron Wadsworth, Elaine Thomas, Leota and Dave Robertson, David and Nancy Giffen, and numerous close cousins and friends.

Louise had a kind heart and a mind intent on learning and teaching. She enjoyed her career, loved being in nature and led an active life. Every season brought her new joys: Spring hikes, yard work and birdwatching, summer swims and campfires, harvesting ripe tomatoes from the garden and colour tours in fall and cross-country skiing in winter. Other relished activities included square dancing, aqua fit, travelling, playing bridge and doing puzzles which she squeezed in between her volunteer work for church, charities and community organizations.

Many thanks to those who supported Louise in her final years: medical services provided in and by the community, friends willing to ensure she remain involved and connected and neighbours who were always willing to help out.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 11:00 am at Strathroy United Church.
