My condolences to the Gillian family. I remember Ron from school and when I helped my dad deliver milk to his parents place so many years ago. We had fun hanging out and he liked to talk cars way back then. Guess it was in his blood. Rest In Peace my friend.

What a great neighbour and friend.
Spent many hours talking with Ron in his garage as he worked on various car projects. He was always in a great mood and had countless stories.
From his little red express pickup, to the mustang drag car and his last build the chopped mercury, Ron always had a project and was a master car builder. He could also build houses and did so for his mom and dad. Ron always made sure they were well taken care of.
My condolences go out to the entire Gillan family. Ron will be missed every time I drive down the old lane.

My sincere condolences go out to Chris and family.
I have so many memories of Ron. Memories of the good times and the bad. Memories from long ago and some from more recent times. Although I’m going to miss you Ron, my memories of our time spent together will forever be treasured.
Ron & I met in 1980 in Calgary, Alberta thanks to my neighnor Kevin who introduced us.
I remember the first night Ron & I went out on a date, listening to Chris De Burgh sing “Lady in Red”. It was one of Ron’s favourite songs. Til this day whenever I hear that song, I think of Ron.
Ron loved his music. He even had his old stereo from Ontario shipped out to Calgary. That stereo played a lot of good tunes for us … the house was always rockin.
Almost every weekend we would invite friends over for either a BBQ (Steak, Potatoes, Corn on the Cob - one of his favourite meals) or a Fondue (another thing he loved). After we ate we would bring out a deck of cards or a board game, crank up the music and have a few drinks. Ron loved his beer. Every time he would crack open a beer, he would pass the bottle over to me so that I could take the first ice cold swallow and then he’d drink the rest. Still to this day that is my favourite way to drink beer. Nothing beats that first ice cold swallow of beer.
Another thing Ron loved was his Ford Bronco. I remember going 4-Wheeling thru mud and sliding around on ice in the winter. We had so much fun. I still remember the “Big Grin” on his face. He loved it.
I remember camping in Drumheller, day trips to Banff & Lake Louise. I remember spending many weekends at my parents cabin, Ron just loved driving around on the lawn tractor, he would offer to cut their lawn every time we went He experienced his first Chinook one winter day while at the cabin. We sat our lawn chairs in the snow bank, beer in the snow and skated around on the pond wearing only jeans and a T-Shirt.
I remember one night coming home from Bob & Shelly’s place (friends of ours), it was late, I jumped into bed and was waiting for Ron wondering where he went. It was a good 15 minutes when he finally came into the room and got into bed. I went to give him a kiss and quickly rolled over to turn on the light. I burst out laughing. Ron & Bob had made a bet with each other that night to shave their moustaches. I’d never seen Ron without a moustache. I couldn’t stop laughing. It was weird to see his upper lip. Turned out Bob chickened out and didn’t shave his off.
We had a lot of good times and it wasn’t easy for either of us when we split up. I often wish we had fought harder to stay together. Even though our relationship ended we still remained good friends. I always told him, “One of these days I’m going to surprise you with a visit”. His response to me was, “You better Boove”. (Boove was the nickname Ron called me)
Ron, until we meet again. Love you Boove

My condolences to the Gillan family on Ron's passing.
He was a great neibour, cutting grass in the summer and clearing snow in the winter.
When a storm destroyed my single car garage ,Ron was the lead hand to get the ball rolling to rebuild a double garage with help from many other friends. You could find him in his shop year round.
He will be missed !
