Obituary of Jim Thompson
Jim Thompson
Peacefully on July 11th, 2023, James “Jim” Thompson passed away at the age of 77. Jim was the faithful and beloved husband of Trudi. He was the devoted father of Matt (Kate) Thompson, Emily (Paul) McDonald, and Sara (Brian) Bigelow. Loving Grandpa/“Grumpy” of Charlotte (Steve), Liam (Madina), Haley (Conor), Spencer, Andrew, Will, Ella, Levi, and Luke. Great-Grandpa of Victoria, Mary, Samuel, Lily, and Luna. He will be dearly missed by his extended family, friends, and his church community.
Many would remember Jim, aka “Mr. Make-A-Friend”, for his sense of humour, his quick wit and his deep love for most any story that could be elongated, embellished, and exaggerated. He was a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society – “A Capella Connection” for many years. He was family oriented and cherished time around the table with friends and loved ones. He had a servant heart and a keen interest in helping those around him. He knew and loved the Lord and trusted that his eternal salvation was secure through faith in Jesus his Saviour. Jim was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he created many lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held at Bethel Baptist Church on Sunday July 16th, 2023 at 2:00pm with a memorial service at 3:00pm followed by a time of fellowship. A private family interment will take place at Strathroy Cemetery.
Considering the exceptional care provided to Jim in his final days, donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation or to Bethel Baptist Church.
