Obituary of Margaret Ellen Patterson
Peacefully and on her own terms Margaret (Maggie) passed away at University Hospital in London on Thursday, October 12 in her 76th year. Beloved wife of Alan Patterson (predeceased 1990), and daughter of the late Gordon and Margaret Chelew. Maggie is survived by her sisters, Heather of Yellowhead County, Alberta and Kathy of Vancouver, BC. Maggie will be greatly missed by her nieces Elizabeth, Kerry and Teresa, grand nieces Morgan, Brittney, Kaitlyn, McKenzie, Rebecca and grand nephew Ryan; as well as her grand great nieces Chloe and Evie, and grand great nephews Dominic and Hudson.
Maggie was born in London, and resided in Strathroy/Caradoc for the majority of her life. She was a Registered Nurse and worked in the Operating Room and Emergency Department of Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. Maggie had her nurse’s training in Sarnia, with frequent trips back home on weekends.
Maggie was an avid gardener and cat owner. Her garden was her pride and joy. She spent many hours tending to her garden, which at time made it a challenge to reach her by telephone.
Maggie enjoyed travelling. Her last trip was to her grand niece’s wedding in late September this year. She travelled with her sisters to Alaska and Scotland which are cherished memories.
Maggie also enjoyed her outings with ex-colleagues to plays, snow shoeing expeditions, and enjoyed great times with the Cherrydale Choir.
On behalf of Maggie and her family, we wish to thank the staff and doctors of SMGH and University Hospital. Their dedication and efforts are greatly appreciated.
As per Maggie’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.
