Obituary of Yvonne Alice Bleyenberg

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the sudden passing of Yvonne Alice Bleyenberg on November 1, 2023 at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late Ronald Bleyenberg (2005). Loving and dear mother of Alain (Darlene) Bleyenberg, Lilly Bleyenberg, Nancy (Dominic) Haasen, the late Cindy (2022) (Brad) McCrea, and late Jim Bleyenberg (2014). Proud Vontje of Mandy (Mike), Alainna, Elaine, Pammy (David), Steven (Mandi), Dana, and Kendall. Great-grandmother of Natalie, Lexi, Tucker, Gwen, Emma, Oscar, and Isla. Yvonne is survived by her sister-in-law Monique, nephews, nieces, and extended family in Belgium.

Yvonne moved into Seasons Retirement Home in October 2022. She quickly made friends with her fellow residents and was very well liked by the staff. The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff and residents of Seasons for making her feel so at home. To the nurses at Strathroy General Hospital and Dr. Hafezi and Dr. Carter – thank you for your excellent care of Yvonne in her final days. Yvonne and Ronald came to Canada from Belgium in 1949. She was loved by all who met her and made a lasting impression on most. Her smile was infectious and her skin – so soft. She was quick with a joke, loved to laugh and made the people around her feel welcome to be themselves.The family was very lucky to have had her in their lives for as long as they did.

If you want to celebrate her life privately, do it with a glass of shiraz in your hand and remember to always look on the sunny side of life.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
