Obituary of Peter C Bastiaansen
In Loving Memory
Peter C. Bastiaansen, born April 29th, 1943, in Chaam, Noord Brabant, Netherlands, passed peacefully December 11th, 2023 in Forest, Ontario, Canada. He spent his life exploring his passion for flying, his love of tractors and farming, as well as finding joy in music and dancing in his earlier years.
Will be forever missed by beloved wife of 54 years Wilma (nee Caris) Bastiaansen. Loving father of David (Shari) and Eric (Stacy).
Opa will lovingly be remembered for his mischief and playfulness by his grandchildren, Téa, Alicia, James and Marissa.
Peter was the son of the late Petronella (nee Van Riel) (1980) and Peter (2001) Bastiaansen. Stepson to the late Henrica (nee Verberne) Haasen-Bastiaansen (Oct 2023).
Brother to Kees (1942-1946), Bill (2023) (Tina) Bastiaansen, John (Rita) Bastiaansen, Jane (Adrian) Rombouts, Connie (Ted 2012) Boere, Cathy (Joe) Rombouts, Maryann (Bert) Caris. Stepbrother to John (Therese) Haasen, the late Joe (Aug 2023) (Anita) Haasen, Rita (Ken) Golinski, the late Elly (2010) Haasen, Jerry (Nancy) Haasen, Matt (Denise) Haasen.
Brother-in-law to the late Matthew (1970) Caris, Gertie (Casey) Rombouts, Bert (Maryann) Caris, Annie (Peter) Timmermans, Nellie (John) Vandenhoven, Theo (Joanne) Caris, John (Marta) Caris.
Peter will be remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and the Netherlands.
Visitation will take place at Denning's of Forest on Tuesday December 19, from 5pm to 8pm. A Mass for a Christian Burial will be held the following day, Wednesday December 20 at 1:30pm at St. Christopher's Church in Forest Ontario, followed by the internment at Beechwood Cemetery at 2:30pm. All are invited to attend the Royal Canadian Legion in Forest after the interment for a luncheon in celebration of Pete.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff at North Lambton Lodge for the exceptional care they provided to Pete during the years he resided there. If desired, memorial contributions to the North Lambton Lodge Auxiliary, or the London Middlesex MS Society would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy.
