I am sorry to learn of Joyce's death. When I first knew Joyce, she, her mother and brothers looked after a lunch bar on Front Street. Later, Joyce worked at Guy Hughes' News Depot that was across Frank Street from the Town Hall. The big room was the meeting place for town officials who made all the important decisions for Strathroy. The lunch wing in the back had booths that were great places for students to hang out and fill the juke box with nickels.
Later Joyce worked with Susanne Ferguson at the nursery school that was one of the innovations that Recreation Director Alf Morris added to the building that had been the St. John's Anglican Church Hall.
I remember Joyce as a fun, conscientious and energetic friend.

Joyce and my mother had a treasured friendship lasting over 80 years. She holds a special place in many hearts and I know my mom will miss her deeply. I have so many memories from years of friendship between you both and my parents, from when we were small children and more recently years spent in Zephyrhills. She was a special lady who gave us all precious memories that we will hold close in our hearts. My deepest condolences on her passing , she will truly be missed.

My first memories of Joyce is her being my nursery school teacher. We called her “Miss Tippey Toes”.
Then later in life my shy, quiet father (haha) was by himself at the golf course and Nick asked him if he would like to play with him. The rest is history, the strong friendship between the Tippey’s and the Pettigrew’s began.
Your circle of friends will give you strength through this difficult times.
I am going to miss our chats and visits with Joyce. May she rest in peace.
I will smile when our coral Iris’s bloom in the Spring knowing they indirectly came from Ipperwash.
