My Mom (Mieke Van Den Ende - Cannemeyer) of the Netherlands and then New Zealand is now rejoicing with her cousin Oom Toon in heaven. Shortly before Mom's passing into glory, and after I immigrated to Canada in 2003, she asked me to visit Oom Toon in Strathroy as she adamantly stated several times that she wanted me to meet him. My cousin Renee Sloan (Cannemeyer) and I first visited Oom Toon and Helen in 2013 and two more times after that. What a blessing to have met and known him and Helen for this brief but impactful time. We enjoyed coffee, soup and buns with cheese and meat as well as Tony's famous raisin bread and Indonesian meals. We joined him at the organ as he played and sang hymns we remembered so well from our childhoods. Both our lives were never (and will never be) the same after each visit which always concluded with our respective faces in his hands and a blessing/annointing before we hit the road for the drive back home to Toronto. We enjoyed the funeral service online. While we will miss our visits with him (but will continue to visit with dear Helen), we also rejoice that Oom Toon is now in the presence of his Saviour. Our sincere condolences to Pastor Tony's family and all who knew and were blessed by this servant of the Lord and look forward to a reunion one day with him and our loved ones in heaven.

Our deepest condolences to the family. Ome Toon, my memories of you reach back to my earliest years. You were my example in so many ways. I had the privilege of visiting you and Aunt Ank in the summer of 2006, along with my father Gerard and Uncle Joop. I’ve never listened to anyone with such pleasure. During Christmas, I always looked forward to your yearly letter. Hearing stories about you shaped who I am today. I will share my memories of you with my newborn son, James. Thank you for being my Ome Toon. Marco & Eline van den Ende

Anthonie was an encouragement and mentor to me as I served as director of the Upper Deck Youth Centre. I will always cherish his example, his kind words and his prayers with me. He was truly a Pastor in every sense of the word.

When I was minister at St. Andrew's, Tony was a member of the Ministerial. He was wise, kind, compassionate, and gentle, most always smiling at what life was sending his way, no matter what it was. He was an amazing servant of the Lord, and blessed many, and I am glad to have called him my friend in that time.

I have received the message that 'Uncle' Toon has passed away. Great memories of his visits to the Netherlands with a large family gathering. He always said we had grown so much, but in my experience he stayed the same. Even the last video I saw of him, nothing changed. My thoughts are with all who loved him. May the three brothers rest in peace. Hilde (daughter of Aad and Janny van den Ende)

My deepest condolences to you all on the passing of a wonderful gentle and loving man I always knew as Pastor Tony.He came into my life when I was in my late teens and early 20s. My parents thought the world of him as did I. He got me involved in SWIM '72. Oh what wonderful memories I have of that time!! Your work is done now Pastor Tony so rest peacefully knowing that you will not be forgotten.

Pastor Tony was a friend, mentor and brother in Christ. He had an uncanny way of knowing just when I needed a call. He blessed my life immensely. He welcomed me into his home and family and was the only pastor that my boyfriend would talk with. He had a way of making anyone he spoke with at ease. We shared life and experiences and I am forever grateful that he came into my life over 40 years ago. May your family be blessed by the legacy he has left behind. Well done good a faithful servant. May God sustain you as grieve. Diane Helmus Winnipeg, MB
