MacGowen was one of my fellow candidates on my basic military officers course when he passed. he was loved so much by the entire course and the news of his passing shook us all. we could always count on him to attend training with a smile and to lighten our mood with jokes. my deepest condolences goes out to his family as i cannot imagine the pain. he will forever live in my heart and i will miss him forever. this is a photo of him on our navigation excersize from course.

Elijah is one of the kindest people I've had the pleasure of knowing. Even as kids he was always so kind and understanding. I remember in fifth grade when I was having trouble with friends, he made me feel so comfortable and listened to as we were sat next to eachother. We used to draw pictures in my sketchbook during breaks. Even into high-school when I really isolated myself, talking to him was always such a breath of fresh air. I wish I had thanked him for everything when I had time. May he rest in peace.

I met Elijah when he was only 10 months old when I first connected with you Sarah at our mom’s group. I never realized all the memories we would make beyond that day. Through many play dates, I saw Elijah grow into the sweetest boy and then through the distance and our continued friendship and visits and calls, I saw him become a remarkable young man. Elijah’s smile lit a room, his laughter was contagious. I remember being there on your birthday and as a teen, he had written you such eloquent heartfelt words in a card. His words had grabbed me by the heart. Elijah would easily chat on the phone and answer calls by saying “Elijah here”. He truly was a testament to the amazing parents you and Allan have been and a ray of light in this world. I am daily lifting your family up and mourn his loss with you. I love your family and Elijah will never be forgotten.

I remember one Christmas when we were young where I was pretending to be a funny YouTuber. Elijah was sitting on the couch watching the show and he laughed so hard he had tears rolling down his face, he was red in the face and of course his smile and laugh made everyone laugh. I will always remember how much joy, peace and laughter he brought into every room. I will remember all of us cousins wrestling aunt Sarah and of course, we always lost! There are too many memories to count for, but I will keep them near and dear to my heart. I love You Elijah, give Grampa a hug for me!

I will never forget the kind soul Elijah was and the kind words of encouragement he gave me during the worst time of bullying in my life I spent most of the last year of elementary isolated and shut out from the rest of my peers, Elijah never participated in any of it, he regularly checked in on me and was the only person at graduation that wasn't in my immediate friend group that made sure we got a picture together. He always made sure I was told I was beautiful even when I was being ostracized by the most of our peers. My heart goes out to the MacGowan family, I will always remember your son as a shining ray of light in one of my darkest times.

MacGowan’s and the Baker’s as we went to Chicago for a family vacation. I remember staying up all night on the train there and back with Elijah and Caleb because we were so excited to be on a train. This being my first vacation with other people was one I will never forget. My childhood in Komoka with Elijah and Caleb was one I will forever be grateful for as the memories still bring me joy and peace today looking back as I see what an amazing man Elijah turned out to be.

Elijah and Ella. Baby besties. They were inseparable until distance separated them.Being born only 2 weeks apart and meeting for the first time at 4 months. We didn’t get to reconnect as he approached adulthood but his infectious giggle and smile is a favorite memory as our families created core memories with our firstborns.Im confident his impact on everyone he encountered was felt and will leave a hole in all our hearts as we move through the grief.
