To all of Ross’s family, we are sorry to hear of Ross’s passing. I am a fellow graduate with Ross year ‘62 WOAS (Ridgetown College). Ross loved his two years at Ridgetown and he made many good friends while there. He couldn’t wait for the next reunion with his classmates. He will be missed by us all. Our sympathy to all his family.
Peter and Anje Rose.

I met Ross Miller in 1962 at Dick Schleissner's Dunlea Farm at Jerseyville. He was about 22 years of age and had been working there about three months. I was 16, a high school student and worked at Dunlea from time to time on weekends and holidays. Ross's experiences at Dunlea weren't very pleasant. He left after Schleissner told him to work on a Sunday, bringing in hay. He took a job with Ray Brubacher at Lakeside Farms in Wisconsin, helping to take cattle on the show circuit. After that, I lost touch with him.
Then in my book, E.Y. Morwick's Livestock Record published in 2017, I detailed my working for Schleissner, telling what an awful man he was to work for. Ross read my book, telephoned me and told me that what I said about Schleissner was entirely accurate. He suggested we meet for lunch and thereafter, every year at Christmas time, we met for lunch at the Oxford Diner in Woodstock. One day five years ago, Ross suggested we buy some Holsteins together. We went to the Glenvue Dispersal and bid on four cows but weren't successful. One cow we bid on topped the sale, selling for $5,100.00. Then Ross bought a cow on his own, kept her on a farm at Embro and flushed her a couple of times, I believe.
I hadn't heard from Ross in the last two or three years. He was a real friend and a true gentleman, one of the best fellows I ever met. You have my condolences on his passing.

Gayle, Tracey, Heather (and family) - I was so sad to hear about your dad's passing. I know it has been a tough couple of years for him, but I was so pleased to see a recent photo of him holding a puppy. His eyes were sparkling and you could tell how much he loved and was loved by you all. Much love to you all. - Holly Simpson

Sorry to hear about Ross. We will miss the social times we have enjoyed with him.
For years we’ve sold red clover to Ross and always found him to be more than fair about the price. And, of course, the visits when he picked the seed up was a bonus!
