Mary Kay Buchanan
Buchanan, Mary kAY November 3, 1946 — December 12th, 2024. Mary Kay took her soft exit from a hard life on December 12th, 2024, having died where she was born: Middlesex, Ontario. She was the wife to Duncan, who predeceased her; mother to the late Brenda, the late Karen (Dean) Schram, the late J.D, and her surviving daughter Kathy (Don) Kaufman. Her absence will be felt by grandchildren Kennedy, Karter (Emily), Jack, and Cameron (Amber); loving siblings Janet (Alan) Fisher, Bruce (Roxanne) Carruthers, and Anne (Brad) Ford; and nieces and nephews Christa, Jeff, Andy, Kaylin, Nick, and Chris. Mary Kay was predeceased by her parents Grant and Eileen Carruthers, Eileen’s second husband Rev. Maurice Platts, her mother-in-law and father-in-law Herman and Jean Buchanan; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dorothy (Gerry) Webb and survived by her nephew James Webb.
Cherished by siblings and many as “Kitty,” or simply “K,” she is remembered for her fits of laughter, generous spirit, strong-will, and ability to colour a life punctuated by loss.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Melbourne Legion on December 22 from 11:00am until 2:00pm. A private family burial will take place at Longwoods Cemetery.
