Obituary of William Kerslake

And oh, the time that I can lay this tired old body down and feel your fingers feather soft upon me the kisses that I live for, the love that lights my way the happiness that livin' with you brings me. (John Denver - Back Home Again). With great sadness we announce that William Cameron (Bill) Kerslake, lover of the great outdoors, family, laughter, Johnnie Walker Red, and foremost his adoring wife, Jan, succumbed to cancer on November 23, 2007. Bill is predeceased by parents Alvin and Gladys Kerslake and survived by wife Jan, son Mike and his wife Denise, daughter Michele and her husband Scott, as well as beloved and cherished grandchildren, Nikki, Katie, and Hannah, who all loved Papa bunches. Also survived by sister Joan Cooper of Chatham and her family. Also will be greatly missed by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Bill spent much of his life and energy working in construction in the London area and earned the respect of many in that field for his efforts in securing for his employers a large number of the major construction projects undertaken in the community over the last 30 years. During that time period he was a top-notch estimator for several firms including Bre-Ex, Aztec Construction, Dynamo, TCG Construction and Ro-buck Contracting. In addition to his enthusiasm for the construction trade, he had a passion for the great outdoors, which was best enjoyed on annual family trips "up north" as well as long weekend journeys with family friends Carol and Adam Schutzbach and in-laws Belle and Harvey Thomas. This joy of the great outdoors was surpassed only by his everlasting love and bond with wife and soul mate Jan (Hicks) Kerslake. Friends and family of Bill will be warmly received at Denning Bros. Funeral Home, 32 Metcalfe St. W, Strathroy, for visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place at Denning Bros. on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Willi K. F. Kammerer officiating. Private family interment to follow. Cancer can be beaten, and the entire Kerslake family strongly encourages friends and family of Bill to support that fight with a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in his memory.
