Obituary of Donald Oatman
On Thursday January 18th, 2007, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital after a brief illness, Donald Oatman of Strathroy entered eternal rest in his 86th year. Don was raised in South Norwich Twp. (New Road), near Tillsonburg and was formerly of London, Hamilton and Belleville. Lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife Kae (Kathleen) of Strathroy. Together on February 14, 2007, they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage. Remembered with great affection by sons Dan and his wife Debbie of Kitchener and Dave of London. Loving grandpa to six grandchildren and great-papa to two great-grandchildren. Remembered by a niece and her family. Don served proudly with the Perth Regiment of Canada in Italy during World War II receiving serious wounds at Corianno Ridge September 13, 1944. Visitation at the Denning Bros. Funeral Home, 32 Metcalfe Street West, Strathroy on Sunday January 21st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service of remembrance will be held from the chapel on Monday January 22nd at 1 p.m. with Dr. Brian McKenzie of the First Baptist Church officiating. A Legion Memorial Service will be conducted on Sunday January 21st at 6:30 p.m. Private interment at a later date Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, London. Special thanks to Dr. Wolder and Dr. Gomes and thanks to staff at Strathroy Hospital for all their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers donations to the World Vision, Salvation Army, and Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
