Obituary of Bernard Jordan

Peacefully, surrounded by his family, on February 12, 2006. Bernard H. (Bernie) Jordan passed away at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy. He was 81. Bernie is survived by his wife Audrey, son Michael of London and daughter Elisabeth (John) Mackey of Strathroy. Also survived by his brother Stan (Pat) Jordan and sister Margaret (Cliff) Millwater of Newport Wales, brother-in-law Alan Coughlan of Exeter, U.K. and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Christopher (1991), his parents Fred and Margaret and brothers Fred, Reg, Les and Ernie. Born in Newport, Wales, Bernie served in the Royal Air Force for 4 years as a Wireless Operator Air Gunner, Coastal Command. He left his beloved Wales in 1953, settling first in Montreal, working at McGill University in his chosen field of radiography. He then moved to Strathroy where he spent the remainder of his life, working first at Strathroy Hospital, and then as the highly respected Administrator of Strathmere Lodge. He retired from there in 1989. Bernie leaves behind friends and family who will cherish memories of his quick wit and sense of humour. Friends will be received at the Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy on Wednesday, February 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A memorial service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Head Street, Strathroy on Thursday, February 16 at 2 PM with Rev. Fr. Willi K. F. Kammerer officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Auxiliary or the Memorial Fund Strathmere Lodge Auxiliary would be appreciated by the family.
