Remembering the families of Ken and Elda at this time. As one of Grandmas granddaughters, growing up right next door I would see Grandma daily. Taking note of Grandmas fashion sense was always on my radar. There was never a time, whether running errands or going to church or going out dancing with Grandpa, that Grandmas shoes & purse, her beads and earrings didn't all compliment each other.
Another great memory all of us grandchildren and neighbour children share I'm sure, is the package of big round suckers that were ALWAYS on the shelf behind Grandmas last kitchen cupboard door. As soon as it got down to one or two left, you would be sure to see a new bunch sitting there for the next time you visited !
Who could forget Grandmas pies ! Served on her kitchen table with a slice of cheese and a scoop of ice cream. There was always standing orders at the church socials waiting, for Elda Patterson's pies to arrive !
At Metcalfe school is where I learnt to square dance and polka with Grandma & Grandpa. I could hardly wait, one night every week, to scarf down my supper, put my dancing shoes on, and be sitting ready for when their car pulled in my laneway to pick me up. Grandma loved dancing, I am sure back in Grandpas loving arms again, the two of them are gliding, dancing to their favorite waltz.
