Obituary of Arthur James Dilley

Peacefully at his home on Friday, April 28th, 2017 - Arthur (Art) James Dilley of Strathroy passed away at the age of 87. Cherished husband and forever love of Linda Dilley (nee Armstrong). Beloved father of Cara Schnellback, Colleen (Charlie) Kennedy, John Dilley, Justin Dilley, Shannon (Kelly) Kadonaga and the late David Dilley. Loving granddad of Jason (Cara), Dayna, Julia, Christopher, Michael, Paige, Lindsay and Lucas and great grandfather of Remington; predeceased by his six sisters. Art spent many years as Senior Electrical Engineer at Esso Chemical in Sarnia. Art’s love of aviation and electronics grew out of his service as a young man with the Royal Air Force. A modest man, many are unaware of his earlier accomplishments. After immigrating to Canada he was involved in the development of the Avro Arrow. He also worked on the development of sonar and radar detection devices for the armed forces. At one point, he found himself aboard a warship in the Caribbean during the Cuban missile crisis. Art had many passions and interests. He would often be heard quoting Shakespeare or listening to his classical music collection. An avid tennis player and fan, he rarely missed a televised match. Art and Linda were longtime members of the London and Sarnia ballroom dancing clubs; achieving their Goldstar Status. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY 519-245-1023 on Wednesday, May 3rd from 12:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Karen Nelles officiating.
