It has been one year since you passed away,
We think of you always,I must say.
We miss your voice and your contagious smile,
The hats you wore ,the painted clothes you styled.
You were our friend for many years,
Like a family member ,we shed many tears.
I know my sediments are being shared,
by all the ones in your life that cared.
I know your art will be a reminder,
Of a person named Claude ,who couldn't have been kinder.
You are forever in our hearts, Marcal & Sandra

Today, March 14, 2019 I went to your show at the library. I had shared that I wanted to buy a painting from you. Once I knew that you were too ill to come to the community dinners, I didn't want to bother you. My dream came true. You had mentioned "Abstract lady to me in discussion." You asked me what I could afford and I replied, "40. or 50." Well, I hope I can buy this painting that you suggested to me. Also, I contacted an old family friend, Mark Samuel whose family was into horse racing. I text him a photo of the "The Horse Race." In it the jockey wearing the red cap was usually the jockey of one of the Samuels.
I moved here not knowing too many people and your kindness over the two years was appreciated. I like the idea that you are painting angels in heaven. You inspired me to get back into painting after a 30 year break. Having Carr as a relation maybe to Emily Carr, I better get painting. I only painted a few oils that were meant to stay in the family. One was damaged and stolen, while the other one was sold without my permission. When I look at your work, it is worth so much more, but you painted for every one something that we could all afford. God bless you in heaven. I think if you had a chance to paint after you became Christian there would have been more light in your work. Thank-you for sharing your work and being so generous to so many people. One thing is for sure, you had control over your work and what was to be done. I will be sure to learn that lesson for any future paintings I make. You want them to find a good home. I'm glad you found the best home in heaven on the other side of the rainbow. We miss not seeing you around town, at church, and at the community dinners.

Claude, Your daily presents will be missed, as you faithfully sat here and there with your easle and paints, and brushes in front of your next piece of art work.
You not only painted with great colour, you added great colour to our community, and you will be missed.
Always had a smile, and friendly hello as Bentley and I rode my bike downtown, when the weather was good. We miss You!
Deepest sympathy to your family and friends.

I remember the first day I met Claude, he was painting a picture on front street. I was new to the town and said hello, we chatted for a bit, then he closed up and we walked to his place. I loved his smile and the laughter was contagious too. He never had a mean thing to say about anything, "it is what it is" he'd say. I knew there was a Turkey Fest coming up and asked if he'd go with me, seeing as he was the only person I really knew. He said yes. When I met him, he was in painting grubs and had messy hair, looked liked something the cat dragged in, but when he picked me up to go the fair, I was nervous and a bit scarred too, I opened the door and he was dressed in a nice suite, hair brushed and he even shaved, he smelled of old spice, my favorite cologne for men. He was standing there with a smile on his face, but he dare not enter without an invite, it was then I felt safe and free to be myself, we danced to music, ate weird foods and laughed the night away, at the end of it all he walked me home safely, asked if I had a good time, said good night and walked away. I would see Claude many times after that, he'd walk me to work and home again if it was dark, I'd buy him a coffee when I seen him. RIP My dear friend, I know you'll color heaven with all the colors of the rainbow, till we meet again xxx <3

Claude was a true artist and painted our town. Only today was I sitting with friends at a table in a restaurant where one of Claude's paintings was hanging and I was saying how he loved to paint and what a lovely person he was. I chatted with Claude several weeks ago and he so wanted to live. Claude liked people and made many friends. Strathroy will not be the same without, Claude, as he would be seen in any season with his canvas on an easel happily painting another picture. He was kind, caring, loved animals and nature. I shall cherish the paintings I have of Claude's forever. I will miss him. Rest in peace, Claude.
My sympathy to his family and friends.
