Good evening everyone. I was deeply saddened today as I found out through a student of Jeff's of his passing...
Tears fill my eyes as I think of you. So many times you took the time to help me with my studies. We went to school together at Georgian from 2003-2006. Jeff and I were really good friends. I was much older and had a very difficult time with my three statistics courses. I passed them all because Jeff spent endless hours helping me get it. He has been to my home many times, had dinner with my family, played with my children, and watched many hockey games together. We just had lunch in December...things were going so well. I always told him he was a brilliant young man and he could be anything he wanted as he was certainly smart enough. I don't believe he had an enemy. Always smiling, always giving his time so freely. Loved the Canadians! Loved life and adored his family, and his dogs. He often talk about how much he loved you all. This breaks my heart and I send my love to your family Jeff. May we meet again in heaven my friend!
So sadly missed!
Jeane

I was a student of Jeffrey's for a semester at Georgian, and what a memorable professor he was! He was always staying beyond his posted hours to help students, and wanted each and every one of us to succeed in our studies. My thoughts are with not only his immediate family, but the Georgian College family as well during these hard times.

Jeff held tutoring sessions while he was taking the class with us. Most of us learned more from him than the actual prof teaching the class. Needless to say, Jeff was an outstanding guy. Many of us probably wouldn't have been able to graduate without his help. And I'll always remember the time when we were at a cottage and Jeff believed that there's no difference between peeing while your body is fulling in the lake verse standing at ankle height water and peeing yourself - which he did to prove his point (at ankle height).

I will never forget the look on his face when the teacher called my name instead of his for top mark on the test. It was one of confusion and determination all in one. And that marked the beginning of our rivalry back and forth for top grades. He was top dog in the Laurentian program until I came and challenged him. Next test, he got it and I got a few more over that semester. Ultimately he got more 98s and 96s than I did but the challenge was fun. It was the same look when I beat him at risk at Mike's cottage. He was also the only one in our graduating class that I could talk to about college basketball. I wish I had more semesters with him than just 3. He was lovely!

Jeff was constantly changing his hair style, so every time he came into the library to book a room or work with a student, i'd ask for his ID. He would gently smile and hand it over and i'd say, Jeff?? You have a mustache! or Didn't you just have a shoulder length bob? or What happened to the beard?
He was the best sport, and charming. He was a pleasure to serve in the library, as a student, a tutor and one of our best faculty.
We are all sad to think he's not going to come in again and ask for our help.

This news has me shocked. More than 10 years ago I met Jeff at Georgian College. As a mature student myself I considered Jeff a peer as well as a role model. Especially as we bonded watching my Leafs beat his Habs over beers and poutine at the TLC. He hated watching the game with me because those were the games that the Habs always seemed to lose. I’ll be shedding a tear over a room temperature Molson Ex, cheering for the Habs in his honour this week. Rest In Peace to one of the most inspirational souls I ever had the privilege of meeting. Condolences go out to his family and all of the lives he has touched.

Jeff was my professor at Georgian College for Finance and Accounting. I struggled with accounting as I had failed the class before, so when I saw that Jeff was teaching accounting I moved my schedule around to have him as my professor because I knew that I would understand it considering math has always been my weakest and he helped me understand finance. I still struggled with Accounting throughout the semester but he always offered extra help and always made sure I was prepared for the test and exams. In the end I passed accounting and I don’t think I could have done it without his teaching skills. Jeff was an amazing and very kind individual who brightened the lives of many students. Thank you for making an impact in my life, you will be missed.

Unlce Nern will be truly missed. He was a wonderful friend to myself and my son. I had the wonderful pleasure to work beside him and play ball with him and have an amazing friendship outside of all that. He had a kind heart and was the nicest person I have ever met. He was a real gem. We have many great memories of him and he will be sadly missed. Our condolences to his family and friends and students and coworkers and sports family. Jeffrey was the greatest.

It is with a heavy heart that prayers are sent to heaven to accept such a loving spirit and dedicated person. Jeff was an inspiration for our students that connected on a very personnel level and was always willing to help those who asked. Jeff, you will be deeply missed!

Nerny was the most honest and transparent person I have ever met. We lived together for three years in university along with a few of our Valleyview friends. He helped make those years fantastic.

Nernie, myself and all of us Poplar Hill boys met at Valleyveiw so many years ago. We stuck together for all these years and I could write for days of so many great memories. As I went through pictures last night I cried and laughed and cried again. I am going to miss you so much. I am extremely lucky to have had you as a great friend for many years. You were one of a kind.

I cannot begin to tell you how much of a loss I feel with Jeff's passing. I have worked with Jeff in a number of capacities at Georgian College through varsity athletics, teaching together and being friends. He set an example for everyone of how to work hard to help students be successful despite the many challenges that some students would have. I loved Jeff's sense of humour, his big smile (looked like he was always up to something) and how much care and concern he showed for people. He is going to be missed by everyone who knew him, respected him and loved him. Hope that you are wearing your Habs jersey and giving a Leafs fan a hard time in your resting place, Rest in peace Jeff

Sending you all my heartfelt love and prayers during this difficult time. Jeff was an inspiring friend to me - both of us colleagues at the college - but outside of work he was helping me study for my MBA exams. It was through this time together we became friends sharing adventures and great chats.(many of them about his amazing family, about music of course and then someone would start talking about baseball and his passion took over the conversation). I had known him since he was a student and have watched him grow into this amazing teacher. I loved hearing students talk so highly of him. And what a sense of style he had - I loved when he would decide to adopt a new look - we always looked forward to this! He always looked dapper! My heart is broken not having been able to go on our next adventure but feel so blessed that I got to have Jeff in my life for the time I did. Thank you for bringing this beautiful man into our lives - his kindness, his caring, his understanding, his curiosity, his stories and sense of adventure and so much more. I’m going to miss every last bit of it. Please know that I am keeping you all in my prayers! Kim V
