Obituary of Carlyle Munro Wood

Wood, Carlyle Munro

Carlyle Munro Wood passed away at Strathmere Lodge (Strathroy, Ontario) on July 7, 2019 in his 92nd year.

Carlyle will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend Carolyn Ann and their two children, Sharon (Silvio) Briglio and Alan (Marion) Wood, and by his loving granddaughters Amy (Scott) Janzwood and Rebecca Wood. He was predeceased by his parents Amy Euphemia Munro and William Cecil Wood, and his sister Marjorie (Doug) May.

Carlyle was born June 18, 1928 in Lobo Township. He married his sweetheart on September 26, 1953 and they were lovingly married for 65 years. Carlyle was a life long farmer and steward of the land.

Carlyle will always be remembered for his sense of humour and quick wit, his tireless work ethic, and knack for fixing anything that found its way onto his work bench.

Carlyle was a long-time member of North Caradoc Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church, a dedicated volunteer fire fighter, a member of the Tri-Lakes Antique Car Club, and was an integral part of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. He was a seed grower with the Canadian Seed Growers Association for 75 years.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 10, 2019 from 5-8pm at Denning’s of Strathroy. A celebration of Carlyle’s life will be held on Thursday July 11, 2019 at 11am at the funeral home (32 Metcalfe Street West, Strathroy). A private family interment will follow.

Donations in memory of Carlyle may be made to the Canadian Food Grains, Strathmere Lodge, and the Ailsa Craig and Area Food Bank. His family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Strathmere Lodge, as well as Dr. S.
