Obituary of Jack Verlinden

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jacobus “Jack” Gerardus Leonardos Verlinden of Denfield on Sunday November 24th, 2019 at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital in his 88th year. Predeceased by his parents Mien Verlinden (née Gommans) and Piet Verlinden. Jack was blessed to have 6 siblings, Mien (cor Van Der Asdonk), Koos (Sjraar Van Horen), Iet (Hey Lamberts), Jan (Truus Verlinden-Linssen), Kitty (Jeu Neelen) and Harrie Verlinden. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Jack was born in Maasbree, Netherlands on January 1st, 1931 and emigrated to Canada on April 14th, 1954. Farming, flying, sailing, traveling and reading were just a few of Jack’s passions and hobbies during his long and satisfying life. He was a life-long learner and mentor to many. A visit to Jack and asking questions were an education that many of us will never forget. Some of his last words were “It was a great life with no regrets”. He will be sorely missed.

Thank you Jack for letting us be a part of a life well lived.

A very special thank you to the support workers who visited Jack’s home in the last few months. We would also like to thank the nurses, doctors and support staff at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital for their kindness and compassion which brought great comfort to Jack during his last difficult days.

As per Jack’s wishes cremation has taken place. Condolences may be left online at www.strathroyfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF STRATHROY, (519)245-1023.
