Obituary of Cynthia Helen Barnard

BARNARD, Cynthia “Greywolf” Passed away peacefully on May 18th, 2020 at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy, at the age of 96. Beloved wife of the late Ernest Barnard. Loved mother of David (Darlene), Richard, Ken (Darlene), George, Gordon (Catherine), Andrew (Eunice), and James (Laurie). Sadly, missed by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by sister Patty Farley (2012). "Greywolf" will also be sadly missed by her other family, the Cub Scouts and leaders of Scouts Canada. Cynthia served with the WAAF during the second world war. After the war she then followed the love of her life Ernest back to Canada where she raised her seven boys. Cynthia became very involved in many activities, including Scouts Canada in which she participated for over 50 years. She especially enjoyed working with the Cubs and with Scouting for Disabilities. A very special thanks to everyone at Strathmere Lodge for their caring and compassion. Due to COVID-19 a private family service will be held, with interment at Poplar hill Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Scouts Canada or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
